File is too large for destination file system” error OR "file too large to transfer" ERRORS

HAVE U GOT AN ERROR LIKE THIS IN WINDOWS 7

"File is too large for destination file system"

THIS TYPE OF ERROR NEVER COMES IF YOU ARE USING A NTFS FILE SYSTEM.

WHEN I GOT THIS ERROR MY HARDISK WAS ONLY 120 GB FULL AND THERE WAS ABOUT MORE THAN 700GB FREE SPACE, I WAS WONDERING WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT  "File is too large for destination file system"

I GOT THE ERROR BECAUSE MY HARDISK FORMAT WAS FAT32  WHEN I GOOGLED THAT WHAT I FOUND THAT

The max file size for FAT32 is 4GB. The max file size for FAT16 is only 2GB!

So how do you fix this problem? Well there are two ways you can go about it. You can either split the file into smaller pieces and then copy it to your external hard drive or you can convert the file system to NTFS, where there is no limit on file sizes.

EVEN THERE ARE SOME SOFTWARES AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET THAT CAN HELP YOU FOR THAT..

[ Failed to Initialize Logging System ]<<<< ARE U GETTING THE SAME ERROR?

You need a Windows Vista installation CD to do a repair, you cannot use a Recovery Partition to do this, sorry.

Do you have any friends or family with the same version of Vista as you?  If so, do they have the Windows Vista Installation CD that you can borrow?  If so, you can do a Inplace Upgrade (Repair) on Vista:

Repair Installation:
You may reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings, and programs by performing a repair installation or an in-place upgrade with the following steps: (Note:  This does not always resolve all issues, especially if the corruption was caused by a 3rd party program or service, you might need to do a clean installation if this is unsuccessful.)

Please make sure you Backup any and all important data before proceeding. Please see: Methods for backing up your files.
Always make sure you have the means to reinstall your programs, either through an install disk or having access to the installation files.

Methods for backing up your files

You can lose files by accidentally deleting or replacing them, because of a virus or worm attack, software or hardware failure, or a complete hard disk failure. To protect your files, you can create a backup: a set of copies of the files that is stored in a different location from the original files. Windows provides tools for backing up files, programs, and system settings.

Types of backups

You should back up your personal files, programs, and system settings. You should also create restore points so that you can restore your computer to a previous state when necessary. The table below describes each of these options.
To back up
Use
When to use
Personal files such as pictures, music, and documents
Back Up Files wizard
You should regularly back up the files you create and modify. It's also a good idea to back up your files before making any system changes, such as adding new hardware, updating drivers, editing the registry, or making large changes to Windows, such as installing a service pack. For more information about backing up files, see Back up your files.
The Back Up Files wizard is included with Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate.
Your entire computer
Windows Complete PC Backup
When you first set up your computer, you should create a Windows Complete PC Backup image, which is like taking a snapshot of the programs, system settings, and files on your computer. You can use this backup if your computer ever stops working. Although this type of backup includes your personal files, we recommend that you back up your files regularly using the Back Up Files wizard. You should also update the Windows Complete PC Backup image every six months.
Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore is included with Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate.

How to Improve Spoken English?

Many deserving candidates lose out on job opportunities because of their vernacular accent.
Can I 'neutralise' my accent?
Yes, you can. All you need to do is train yourself to speak English as comfortably and perfectly as you speak your mother tongue.
How do you train yourself? By inculcating certain practices in your daily lifestyle. These will get you closer to sounding like a native English speaker and equip you with a global accent -- and you will speak not American or British English, but correct English.
This is the first step to learn any other accent, be it American or British or Australian.
Lisa Mojsin, head trainer, director and founder of the Accurate English Training Company in Los Angeles, offers these tips to help 'neutralise' your accent or rather do away with the local twang, as you speak.
i. Observe the mouth movements of those who speak English well and try to imitate them.
When you are watching television, observe the mouth movements of the speakers. Repeat what they are saying, while imitating the intonation and rhythm of their speech.
ii. Until you learn the correct intonation and rhythm of English, slow your speech down.
If you speak too quickly, and with the wrong intonation and rhythm, native speakers will have a hard time understanding you.
Don't worry about your listener getting impatient with your slow speech -- it is more important that everything you say be understood.

iii.
Listen to the 'music' of English.

Do not use the 'music' of your native language when you speak English. Each language has its own way of 'singing'.

iv. Use the dictionary.
Try and familiarise yourself with the phonetic symbols of your dictionary. Look up the correct pronunciation of words that are hard for you to say.
v. Make a list of frequently used words that you find difficult to pronounce and ask someone who speaks the language well to pronounce them for you.
Record these words, listen to them and practice saying them. Listen and read at the same time.
vi. Buy books on tape.
Record yourself reading some sections of the book. Compare the sound of your English with that of the person reading the book on the tape.
vii. Pronounce the ending of each word.
Pay special attention to 'S' and 'ED' endings. This will help you strengthen the mouth muscles that you use when you speak English.

viii. Read aloud in English for 15-20 minutes every day.

Research has shown it takes about three months of daily practice to develop strong mouth muscles for speaking a new language.

ix. Record your own voice and listen for pronunciation mistakes.
Many people hate to hear the sound of their voice and avoid listening to themselves speak. However, this is a very important exercise because doing it will help you become conscious of the mistakes you are making.
x. Be patient.
You can change the way you speak but it won't happen overnight. People often expect instant results and give up too soon. You can change the way you sound if you are willing to put some effort into it.
Quick tips
Various versions of the English language exist. Begin by identifying the category you fall into and start by improving the clarity of your speech.
~ Focus on removing the mother tongue influence and the 'Indianisms' that creep into your English conversations.
~ Watch the English news on television channels like Star World, CNN, BBC and English movies on Star Movies and HBO.
~ Listen to and sing English songs. We'd recommend Westlife, Robbie Williams , Abba, Skeeter Davis and Connie Francis among others.
Books to help you improve your English

  • Essential English Grammar by Murphy (Cambridge)
  • Spoken English by R K Bansal and J B Harrison

The feint drift technique

 The feint drift technique

1. Once you are almost at the corner, slightly turn the steering wheel so that the car is turning away from the corner. This will momentarily transfer the vehicle weight outwards.
2. Immediately cut back towards the turn, and at the same time release the dutch, which will cause the rear wheels to spin. You will feel a hydroplane effect in the car as you slide around the curve. Do not let the drift go, because it will give you momentum for the next corner.
3. Keep your foot on the accelerator to keep it from spinning out.
4. As you approach the next turn, cut your steering wheel in the direction of the turn: If you were too slow on your first drift, kick the dutch again to get the wheels spinning.

How to Drift a Car with Hand Brake

First, you must have the right car. To drift successfully, a rear-wheel drive car is a good idea. It is possible to drift a frontwheel drive car, but it is a lot more difficult.

The first step in all drift techniques is to make sure your engine RPM's are at 4000 - 5000 before entering into any drift.

There are several techniques that can help you initiate your drift. After your car started to slide, the rest is all about your steering and gas pedal control.

Hand brake technique
This is usually the easiest and most common way to start off with. All beginners will have to get familiar with this technique first. If you are scared at first, you should also practice this technique until you are not afraid of the car being sliding.

180 Degrees Turn
In an empty lot, setup a cone in the middle. Drive up to the cone and rip the handbrake when you are almost approached to the cone in an attempt to do a 180 turn. Practice until you are no more and no less than 180 degrees from where you started. Remember to practice both left and right 180 degrees.

90 Degrees Turn
It's very similar to 180 degrees turn, but this requires controlling how hard your rip the ebrake. Practice until you are no more and no less than 90 degrees from where you started. Make sure to keep your car going after the drift.

360 Degrees Turn (Donut)
Now, this is more of acceleration and handbrake control together. You start the same ways you are going to do a 180. Once your car start to drift, you need to tap on your gas pedal to give a little more spin to your rear tires so your drift can keep going. This is often a little hard for beginner, because too much gas will cause your car oversteer too quick, and too less gas will not make your car keeps sliding. You need to get a feel to this and keep modulating gas pedal in order to maintain a nice 360 degrees turn around the cone and not hitting it or being too far from the cone. Practice in both clockwise and counterclockwise motion.

After you have mastered all three, then you should be very comfortable drifting around all kinds of corner with ebrake technique. Remember gas and steering control play very important part in drifting, and practice makes perfect. If you happen to spin out your car or loss control, don't be disappointed, just learn from your mistake.

How to Balance Work and Pleasure

  1. Step 1
Organize your life. A daily planner can help you balance your life. Let it guide you through your day. Make a place for writing down professional and personal goals to keep you focused.
  2. Step 2
Make the effort to plan each day's activities with both work and play time. Prioritize what you need to do but make sure to balance business and pleasure. Write things like "Take Andy to the park" and "Read novel" in your organizer to make sure they get done.
  3. Step 3
Be critical of your job. Explore other work options if it takes up more than 40 hours a week or you're burned out when you get home. Reduce your work hours if you can afford it. Eliminate long-term or large loan payments so you can reduce your work hours.
  4. Step 4
Learn to say "no" to family, friends and co-workers more often. Tell anyone asking for favors that you need to look at your schedule and will get back to them. Be honest about whether you want to do what they ask of you.
  5. Step 5
Use the expertise of others to bring balance into your life. Outsource administrative tasks if you own your own business. Pay your teenage niece to baby-sit your kids so you can take a yoga class. Hire a tax preparer to handle your tax headaches.

How to gain weight rapidly?

brewing yeast. It has a lot of vitamin B, too. It will make you gain
weight in a week. Either buy at pharmacies, as supplement, or in any
place which specializes in brewing. Three pills a day/three tablespoons a
day - depends on the product, and you are there. Good for bones and
hair as well.

Eat lots of protein and carbs, and then start lifting weights consistently 3 times a week. I know you said don't suggest the gym, but weight training really is the best way to healthily gain weight, and the fastest, best way to gain muscle mass. Unless of course you want to get fat. Then just eat pizza all day and don't do anything active.

Food that's rich in protein and low in fat: Chicken, cottage cheese, fish, turkey, steak, eggs, peanut butter. Also, if you really want, get some protein powder and make a shake within 30 minutes of lifting. The cottage cheese is especially good to eat right before bed because it contains chemicals that prevents muscle breakdown.

Food rich in carbs: pasta, whole grain bread, crackers, rice, etc.
Try to get 3000 calories of healthy foods a day to really pack on some pounds.

How to Reduce Tummy

Tummy Reduction Diet

Exercise goes hand in hand with a balanced diet in tummy reduction. Abdominal obesity is a result of improper lifestyle, poor diet and low physical activity. Decline in the oestrogen production also causes an increase in weight, especially around the abdominal region. Choosing the right foods is important to reduce belly. Whole grains, fruits, cereals and vegetables are a part of a healthy diet.

Moderate intake of desserts is preferred, as they contribute to a lot of calories, due to their increased content of fats or sugars. Avoid saturated fats, such as butter, clarified butter and hydrogenated fats. The bicycle exercise is easy to do at home. It calls for no sophisticated equipments. Lie flat on your back with palms under the head. Lift the shoulder with bent knees over your chest.

Touch the left knee with your right elbows. Alternate between both the sides and have a pedalling motion with your knees. Vertical leg crunch is yet another home exercise. Lie flat on your back and lift your legs. Place them perpendicular to the floor. Lift your shoulder blades, such that you try to touch your legs.

Tips on Choosing a Good Domain Name

1. Your Domain Name Should Be Your Website Name

Naming your site after your domain may seem obvious to some of you, but you'll be surprised to learn that not every website is named after the domain name even when the webmaster owns that domain name.

2. Generic Names Or Brand Name Domains?

I know that a number of people seem to think that your domain name really must be some generic name like "cars.com" if you are selling cars. Witness, for example, how much money those generic names are being sold for. But seriously, if you were looking for a car, you'll probably already have some brands in mind, and you're more like to try out things like generalmotors.com or toyota.com rather than just cars.com.

3. Long or Short Domain Names?

Domain names can be of any length up to 67 characters. You don't have to settle for an obscure domain name like avab.com when what you mean is AcmeVideosAndBooks.com.
Having said that, there appears to be some disagreement about whether a long or short domain name is better.
Some argue that shorter domain names are easier to remember, easier to type and far less susceptible to mistakes: for example, "getit.com" is easier to remember and less prone to typos than "connecttomywebsiteandobtainit.com".

The History Behind Valentine's Day

On 14 February we celebrate Saint Valentine’s Day, usually by the way of exchanging cards, sweets, lingerie, flowers or jewelry.

But, what exactly are we celebrating, is it just a holiday the retail stores invented to get our money? One could think so, but no, we are actually celebrating a Christian Holiday, Saint Valentine’s.

We are following a Christian and ancient Roman tradition. By now the Catholic Church recognizes three Saints by the name of Valentine, or Valentinus.

The first legend to the background of the celebration of Valentine’s Day is this:

During the 3rd century a priest by the name of Valentine, under Claudius II in Rome, secretly disobeyed the law.

Claudius had come to believe that a single soldier was a better soldier than a married young man and so decided to outlaw marriage in order to have plenty young strong men with no wives at his disposal.

Valentine, the priest, did not obey this law and continued to celebrate the holy bond of marriage for young couples in secrecy.

Of course, the way it always works with secret clauses, he was caught and sent to his death.

The second legend believes that Valentine was a prisoner who fell in love with a young woman, who came to see him often. It is believed that she was his jailors daughter. Before his untimely death he wrote her a love letter, signed with ‘YourValentine’. There fore the phrase ‘Be my Valentine’.

Some believe he was beheaded, others thought that he died of sickness.

No one is even sure if 14 February was the day of his birth or his death or if it had indeed anything to do with Saint Valentine at all. The only thing that is for sure, is that the Romans had a tradition in the middle of February, which would mark the 14th, called the Love Lottery. It was believed that spring and with it the renewal of life came along in the middle of February, therefore the love lottery was held, coupling young men and women for one year, often leading to marriage.

Valentine’s Day is celebrated in the USA, Canada, Mexico, France, Australia and the United Kingdom.

The oldest known Valentine’s card can be viewed in the British museum.

Valentine’s day became an official Catholic Holiday in the year 496 or 498 AD. Pope Gelasius declared the 14 February to be Saint Valentine’s Day.

The oldest known and remembered Valentine’s poem is from Charles, Duke of Orleans to his wife, in 1415, while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. It is part of a manuscript collection of the British Library in London.

Years later King Henry V is supposed to have hired the writer John Lydgate to compose a Valentine’s letter to Catherine of Kalois.

In Great Britain it was around the 17th century that Valentine’s Day became a celebrated Holiday. By the middle of the 18th century it was common for all social classes to exchange small gifts or handwritten notes with lovers, loved ones and friends.

By the end of the 18th century printed Valentine’s cards were available.

In the United States people started celebrating Valentine’s Day in the early 1700’s by exchanging Valentine’s notes.

The Greeting Card Association announced that Valentine’s Day is the second best selling card-sending day with one billion cards sold per year. The leader in the card industry is with 2.6 billion, Christmas.

In the year 1835 Pope Gregory XVI was so impressed by the Irish Priest Father John Spratt that he gave him the black and golden casket, which is believed to house the remains of Saint Valentine. This gift from Rome, the black and golden casket, can actually be viewed on Valentine’s Day every year at Whitefriar Street Church in Dublin, Ireland.

We hope that you did enjoy this little background on Valentine’s Day and we wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day, with lots of lasting love and Friendship!

Full Screen Weather Is a Giant, No-Frills Weather Map

We've always liked Weather Underground for its no-nonsense, real-time weather info. Today they've released a new service called Full Screen Weather that mashes up Google Maps with weather data for nothing but maps and up-to-the-minute weather info.

(Click the image above for a closer look.)

Just point your browser to fullscreenweather.com, enter your ZIP code, and get browsing. By default the map displays temperatures as measured from stations across Weather Underground's extensive reporting areas, but you can also switch to Precipitation and Cloud views (you can even play back cloud or precipitation movement over time). In the bottom-left of the window you get an overview of current conditions and a four-day forecast, with links to more extensive forecasts on Weather Underground proper.

The site is clean, simple, lightweight, and ad-free—which is to say, pretty great.

Windows only: Panda USB Vaccine disables autorun on your PC to protect you from being infected, but also protects your USB drives from spreading viruses when you use them in another PC.

Using the tool is a simple matter of installing and then launching it, and clicking the Vaccinate computer button to disable autorun completely on your PC, which prevents malware from spreading to your PC through a flash drive. The interesting feature, however, is the ability to "vaccinate" your flash drive, which essentially just creates a hidden, protected autorun file on the drive so that viruses won't be able to easily infect it—though readers should note it's probably not fool-proof.

Panda USB Vaccine is a free download for Windows only. Readers should note that Windows 7 has removed the ability to auto-execute files from a USB flash drive, more or less preventing this problem from happening in the first place.

Where Can I Watch the Olympics Online? [Ask Lifehacker]

Dear Lifehacker,

I'm a huge fan of the winter Olympics and I don't want to miss a minute of coverage. Where can I watch the games online?

Signed,

Curling Rocks My World

Dear Curling,

We're big fans, too, and want to slurp up all the coverage we can find, so here's how we're planning to attack the games online this year.

Note: We'll update this post as the games begin (and continue) and we find more sources, better options, or more details about what is and isn't working out, so you may want to bookmark this one for later.

Figure Out When Your Must-Watch Events Are Happening

The first thing to check out is a schedule of events so you know exactly when your favorite events are taking place. The event's official website, Vancouver 2010, has the complete schedule of both the Olympic and Paralympic games, and will be continually updated with results as they come in.

Track Down the Games Online

Once you've figured out what you want to see, it's time to track it down online. Many live streams of the events can be accessed right from Vancouver 2010, which routes you into the nationally televised broadcasting stations of dozens of countries. Though we can't say for sure until the games start, this will probably be a great way to view coverage of specific teams and athletes since each nation will likely favor coverage of its stars. In other words, if you want to track every movement of the German bobsled team, streaming one of Germany's live broadcasts will probably serve you well.

Be aware that some websites will sniff out your location and block you from viewing if you're outside that particular country, so you may need to try several streams until you find one that works for you. Alternatively, you could try using a proxy service like xroxy or proxify, but make sure you're not violating the website's or your ISP's terms of service before you do. (Also, proxies significantly slow down your bandwidth, so don't expect great video.)

Watching the Olympics Online in the U.S.

Stateside viewers who mainly want to keep track of American athletes and teams will want to check out NBC's official 2010 Winter Olympics video page as well as their local listings advisor. From the listings advisor, enter your zip code and cable, satellite, or antennaed-television provider to call up a list of what channels in your area are televising the event. From there, you can hit up the individual local networks to see if they're offering live streaming on their web sites. Smaller stations may not be, but you might get lucky in some of the country's major metropolitan areas.

And Elsewhere...

If you want a little local Canadian flair added to your viewing, watch the Olympics via CTV's dedicated online channel. Check the interactive Viewer's Guide to find out which Canadian station will broadcast what event, including popular local channels like TSN and Sportsnet.

Our friends across the pond aren't left out, either. BBC Sport plans to offer four separate live streams, as well as cranking out some content for its mobile site.

Unofficial Olympics Streaming Sites to Check

A few independent websites plan to offer live video streaming of the Olympics but most are unclear about where they'll get their feeds. Most say they aggregate their videos 'from a variety of sources' so, in the end they might not be the most reliable option. If they're the only choice you've got, though, here are a couple of sites that look like they're worth checking out:

* Watch Vancouver Olympics

* Watch Olympics Online

If you're worried online video streams sagging under the weight of too many viewers, one other option you've got is to find a friend with a Slingbox and beg access to it during the games. The cool gadget connects to a television and broadcasts programs to computers that are connected to the local network. The catch is, the TV needs to stay on the channel you want to watch, so your friend is out of luck if they want to view another program while you get your fill of downhill skiing.

Hooking the Slingbox up to an unused television and stashing it in another room usually solves that problem, but if your buddy goes to all this trouble for you, a really nice thank-you gift is in order. Alternatively, you could always just build your own Slingbox with Windows Media Center and a $60 TV tuner card.

Share Your Best Methods

So, Curling, here's a few options to get you started on the road to 24/7 continuous Olympic viewing. We'll update this post as we come across more options. Of course, dear readers, if you know of other sites where we can get our snowboarding groove on during the Olympics, be sure to share in the comments.

Official AIM App Also Brings Facebook Chat to Android [Downloads]

Android: Got an Android phone? Got contacts on AOL Instant Messenger, or chatty friends on Facebook? AIM now has an official chat client in the Android Market, one that can run in the background and connect to Facebook and Twitter too.

There's not all that much more to say about AIM for Android—it asks for your login credentials, and if you head into the settings, you can feed it your Facebook login as well, and it will send and accept chats across both fronts. If you want, AIM can hit you with your friends' status updates, update your own at the same time as your AIM status message, and even post to Twitter, too—though there are certainly better dedicated clients for that purpose.

It's likely the most guaranteed means of keeping a connection across AIM's servers, and since AIM can run silently and ping you on new messages, it makes good sense as an Android app.

AIM for Android is a free download for Android phones only. AIM's product page hasn't updated to announce it yet, but should soon.

Google acquires Aardvark

Google acquires Aardvark: "When you need an answer to a very specific question, sometimes the information just isn't online in one simple place. For example, let's say you want to know if there's snow on Skyline Boulevard on a given day or the best time of year to plant beans in the Bay Area. You might find weather reports and planting guides on many different sites, but for these kinds of questions, a person with the right expertise can be a lot more useful than a webpage.

That's why we're excited to announce that we've acquired Aardvark, a unique technology company that lets you quickly and easily tap into the knowledge and experience of your friends and extended network of contacts. Aardvark analyzes questions to determine what they're about and then matches each question to people with relevant knowledge and interests to give you an answer quickly.

We're very impressed with the Aardvark team and the technology they've worked hard to build, and we're looking forward to collaborating to see where we can take it. You can learn more about Aardvark's underlying technology and premise by reading this paper recently co-authored by founder Damon Horowitz.

In the meantime, Aardvark is available today in Google Labs, so give it try!

Apple to sell 99 cent TV shows at iPad launch?

"Today's 'people familiar with the discussions' prattle carried by both the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times has Apple reducing the price of some of its US television shows to 99 cents in time for the iPad launch. A quick search through the iTunes store makes it apparent that Apple has already been experimenting with the 99 cent rate (and a few freebies) on select iTunes episodes; shows that previously ran $1.99 for standard definition quality or $2.99 in HD. Of course, this could all change by the time the iPad launches since the talks are ongoing. Unfortunately, discussions between Apple and content providers to provide a monthly TV subscriptions have stalled according to sources at the Wall Street Journal, although Apple remains open to the idea.

It's worth remembering that prior to adding video support to its iPods, Steve Jobs regularly lambasted the idea of watching video on a tiny, handheld display. The iPad, with its big 9.7-inch 1,024 x 768 pixel IPS panel, is certainly better positioned for video consumption so it's no surprise to hear rumors that Apple's trying to jump start its video business by getting back to the magical 99 cent price point

Don’t like Google Buzz? Remove it

Google Buzz is out and many if not all have already got it with their Gmail account. I have come across some dissapointment but not too much. I guess there are mixed feelings about Google Buzz but not yet too much negatives about it. I don’t think it is going the Google Wave way.

One thing that is scary with Google Buzz is that if you are using Gmail for work and personal then you might end up having 100s of contacts who might make their way as your followers on Buzz. I have a couple of Gmail accounts and both have Google Buzz enabled. One of them I would like to use for sharing things on Google Buzz but the other I would not want spamming my Inbox. This by the way happens when once you comment on something and someone else adds to the comment.

  • Simplest way of Google Buzz being removed from your Gmail account is log into your Gmail account. Then go right down to the end of the page. Here you will see the link “Turn Off Buzz”. Clicking on it removes Buzz from Gmail. Don’t worry that does not mean you cannot share stuff on Buzz.
  • Just send a mail with your contents to buzz@gmail.com and the contents are shared on Google Buzz.
  • If you want Buzz on Gmail, go to the same link at the bottom of the page. The link will be “Turn on Buzz”; click on it and you are set.
  • I think this is a boon and I will probably switch off Buzz on my personal email while keep it for the Gmail account I use for sharing, storing and reading stuff.

USB 3.0 and Linux

“Ever get tired of Windows people proclaiming how their operating system has device support for this, that, and the other thing and Linux doesn’t? Well, now you have a perfect come-back. The newest, fast interface, USB 3.0 is out and only Linux has native support for it.
“Linux started supporting USB 3.0 in the September 2009 release of the 2.6.31 Linux kernel. Neither Windows 7 nor Snow Leopard currently supports USB 3. Windows support? That will have to wait for Windows 7 SP1 —whenever that shows up.
“Long before then, many USB 3.0 devices will have arrived. Some will doubtlessly have Windows drivers, but only Linux is USB 3.0 ready. USB 3.0, aka SuperSpeed USB, reaches new highs in PC peripheral speeds. USB 2.0 has a maximum throughput of 480Mbps (Megabits per second), which is fast — but these days, when you might want to move gigabytes of movies from one your PC to an external hard drive, it’s not fast enough. USB 3.0, by comparison, has a maximum throughput of 5 Gbps (Gigabits per second) .”

Mplayer (The Movie Player) Under Suse Linux 11.0

First adding Installation Sources :-

Open YAST Control Center->Software->Installation Sources
You will be provided with a list of repositories, more than likely though, you will only have one. We need to add one to get MPlayer out of that repository.
Click on Add, then HTTP.
Now Fill it in as shown:
Server Name: packman.iu-bremen.de It is suggested that you try a mirror, essecially if it is down. Use this one if you cannot access the first one:
ftp://packman.links2linux.de/pub/packman/MIRRORS
Now in the YAST Control Center, click on Software Management.
You may notice that it will take longer to refresh, this is good. It is refreshing the list of software it has available on that repository you added earlier.
Once it’s done, look for the Filter field, click on search on the drop down box. Search for “mplayer”. More than likely you will get three parts returned. They should be something like this:
  • libpostproc
  • MPlayer
  • mplayerplug-in
If you got those three, check them all. If you didn’t please go back and check your repository again. The repository may be down, in which case try a mirror, then complete the installation.
You can now play movies using mplayer (try it in the commandline or from the KMenu).
Tip: Mozilla-based browsers will also have a plugin that will play items using mplayer.

Troubleshooting Solution :-

Mplayer Fails owing to a libdirectfb failure.

Open up a console such as xterm or konsole, and type:
$ su
Password:
# ln -s /usr/lib/libdirectfb-0.9.so.24 /usr/lib/libdirectfb-0.9.so.22

Apple IPad Tablet Launched

Apple Inc.will sell the newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499, a price tag far below the $1,000 that some analysts were expecting.
The iPad, which is larger in size but similar in design to Apple’s popular iPhone, was billed by CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday as “so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smart phone.”
Jobs, 54, a pancreatic cancer survivor who got a liver transplant during a 5 1/2-month medical leave last year, looked thin as he introduced the highly anticipated gadget, though he seemed to have more energy than he did at Apple’s last event in September.
The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen, is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage. It comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity built in. Jobs said the device has a battery that lasts 10 hours and can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.
The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size, when it comes out worldwide in March.
Apple will also sell a version with data plans from AT&T Inc. in the U.S.: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited usage. Neither will require a long-term service contract.
Those 3G iPad models will cost more — $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory — and will be out in April. International cellular data details have not yet been announced.

Apple had kept its “latest creation” tightly under wraps until Wednesday’s unveiling, though many analysts had correctly speculated that it would be a one-piece tablet computer with a big touch screen, larger than an iPhone but smaller than a laptop.
Raven Zachary, a contributing analyst with mobile researchers The 451 Group, considered the iPad a laptop replacement, especially because Apple is also selling a dock with a built-in keyboard.
Sitting on stage in a cozy leather chair, Jobs demonstrated how the iPad is used for surfing the Web with Apple’s Safari browser. The CEO typed an e-mail using an on-screen keyboard and flipped through photo albums by flicking his finger across the screen. He also showed off a new electronic book store and a book-reading interface that emulates the look of a paper book, putting the iPad in competition with Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle and other e-book readers.
Like iPods and the iPhone, the iPad can sync with Apple’s Macintosh and Microsoft’s Windows computers. Jobs said the iPad will also be better for playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. Software coming with the iPad includes a calendar, maps, a video player and iPod software for playing music. All seem to have been slightly redesigned to take advantage of the iPad’s bigger screen.
Tablet computers have existed for a decade, with little success. Jobs acknowledged Apple will have to work to convince consumers who already have smart phones and laptops that they need this gadget.
“In order to really create a new category of devices, those devices are going to have to be far better at doing some key tasks,” Jobs said. “We think we’ve got the goods. We think we’ve done it.”

Reimage - full repair of Windows XP online

Safety proportions in everyday PC usage are pretty much a big part of every user’s attention. It happens so that the most popular desktop OS developer appears to be suffering from thousands of different viruses, malware and spyware attacks on sometimes careless, but mostly helpless users. We are talking about Windows of course. Let’s not forget shall we that even though MS is currently multitasking at three operating systems at a time, the oldest one of three – Windows XP – seems to hold its stand firmly. Therefore keeping XP virus free isn’t any less a topical issue than it used to be. Here we want to refer to Reimage – a unique system recovery tool. Unlike any other antivirus software, Reimage can come in handy even when system is already infected and/or badly damaged. Reimage works only with Win XP, but there will be a Vista version soon and hopefully another one for Windows 7 when it arrives.

Reimage Home Edition has combined a lot of different computer repairing tools working under proprietary technology. In Reimage they like to say their product works just like a professional IT specialist would be working on an exploited XP. This is Video: How the technology works Reimage Home Edition is an ActiveX agent that repairs Windows XP PCs remotely over a corporate network or the Web. First of all, Reimage performs a system scan, then the results are taken through their library to see what your systems lacks and what it needs to be removed. After the scan, repairer picks to pieces all the system faults and cures them. Mind you, that Reimage is not a removal tool. Virus and spyware removal should be done manually or by any other free virus removal software. Any will do, because by the time Reimage finishes working, all malicious scripts will be safely isolated. Search majorgeeks.com or any other similar site for needed utilities. Non-removing feature also prevents Reimage from deleting user’s files occasionally.

You computer may not be necessarily infected to use Reimage. It will also fix numerous XP problems like slower performance after long usage, booting problems and appearing BSOD, DLL or registry failures. As a result, you will get your PC working as good as new every from to day to day.

Reimage offers four plan schemes to choose form. The entry point is a single PC repair for 65 USD and the ultimate solution requires 149 USD for unlimited number of repairs. All plans guarantee to return your money back if the fix didn’t work and you get a free PC performance analysis before you decide to buy the online repair or not. We would also advise you to visit Reimage blog to find out more about the technology.
