SeoQuake SEO extension for Firefox

Seoquake is a Mozilla Firefox SEO extension aimed primarily at helping web masters who deal with search engine optimization (SEO) and internet promotion of web sites. Seoquake allows to obtain and investigate many important SEO parameters of the internet project under study on the fly, save them for future work, compare them with the results, obtained for other, competitive, projects.

Beginner web masters and seos will find SeoQuake useful for estimating effectiveness and competitive ability of their SEO efforts. In the hands of professional SeoQuake will become a powerful and indispensable tool for analyzing optimization and promotion level of internet web-projects.

Add SeoQuake to Firefox

SeoQuake can be distinguished from similar projects by a wide range of parameters available for analysis, simplicity of use and also a tool for creation of custom parameters.

SeoQuake consists of two functional parts. The first one is SeoBar. The second part is the computation of the parameters for search results and its inclusion into search engine result pages – SERPs – for the most popular search engines.

SeoBar
SeoBar can be described as an additional toolbar, which shows the values of selected parameters for the page currently opened in the browser window. Set of parameters shown by SeoBar is fully customizable by user.

Inclusion of parameters in SERPs
After submission of the query into the search engine user is presented with SERP with search results. SeoQuake shows values of the parameters for search results under each search result shown on SERP. Set of parameters shown is fully customizable by user. Loading of parameters can be handled in two different ways – simultaneously with the loading of the SERP or after SERP loading, by user demand. Ranking of the results by selected parameter in ascending/descending order and storing results in file are available features.

Parameters
While having a wide range of default parameters, SeoQuake also gives users the opportunity to create their own parameters and also group them into presets and switch between these presets on the fly, during the work.

General set of parameters consists of such parameters as Google PR (Google PageRank of current page), Google Index (Number of indexed pages. Google version), Google link (Number of links, pointed to the current page. Google version (Except links from concerned domain)), similar parameters for many other search engines (Yahoo, MNS, Yandex, Rambler, Baidu) and some other miscellaneous parameters.

There is also a tool for creation of custom parameters at user’s disposal. These parameters can be saved and used for future research, whatever it may be.

All SeoQuake parameters can be turned on/off to be shown in SeoBar or on SERPs.

Miscellaneous
SeoQuake submits a query to search engine every time when it needs to obtain a value for a new parameter (that is not in a cache yet), defined by this search engine. Frequent use of big amount of the parameters may lead to the ban of user’s IP address from search engine. In this case, you will need to delete cookies or change proxy server.

How can you make my blog load faster?

The speed at which your blog loads is critical to attracting more readers to your blog. If your blog takes a long time to load, many readers may leave your blog before they have the chance to read it. Here are a few tips and tricks that will help your blog load faster and attract more users:

Posts

Your blog's load time can be affected by the number of posts you display on your main page. You can easily edit the number of posts displayed of the main page from the Settings | Formatting tab. You can then select the number of posts you want to display on the main page. We recommend displaying 10 or fewer posts on the main page.

Third Party JavaScript and Links

For optimal blog load speed, we recommend using Google/Blogger widgets, JavaScipt and links. However, if you need to use third party JavaScipt and links, your blog will load much faster if you put all JavaScript at the bottom of your blog. If you have third party JavaScript and links in your sidebar, put them in at the bottom of the sidebar.

Images and Media

The more images, videos and other multi-media you have on your blog the longer it will take to load. However, images and other multimedia are important to attracting users to your blog, so it is important to optimize the load speed of your images and media. Here are a few tips to increase the load speed of your media:
  • Decrease the size of your images or use thumbnails that link to the full-size image.
  • If you use third party images, consider uploading them to Picasa Web Albums via the Blogger post editor.
  • If you have a large number of images to display, you can upload all your images (from a vacation or event) to a Picasa Web Album and link to the album in your post or sidebar.

Other suggestions

  • If you've added any custom CSS to your blog, make sure you put it at the top of the page.
  • The most important content of your blog that catches readers attention should load the quickest. To help you identify which items are taking the longest to load you can use Stopwatch. To use Stopwatch, enter your blog's URL into the text box and click "Start StopWatch". Stopwatch will then open your blog in a frame and will record the time it takes for everything on your blog to load, including images, videos, widgets, etc. Take note of the items that take the longest to load and modify them appropriately using our suggestions.

Today, more than ever, “anyone who is anyone” is active in social media. Although Facebook may be king, there are other tools that it is imperative to at least understand, if not actively use — including Digg. Over the next couple paragraphs I’m going to discuss whether you can increase your blog traffic with Digg, and if so, how to do it.
If you’re not familiar with Digg, it’s imperative that you first understand it before just jumping into it. Digg is a cross between a social networking site and a social bookmarking site.Users submit new links in the form of articles, photos or videos to Digg and then other users can vote it up or down, known as a digg or bury, and then also comment. The more diggs a link receives, the more likely it is to appear on Digg’s front page, and therefore, the more page views it gets.
Although it sounds pretty simple, there’s more to Digg then meets the eye. If you want to use Digg to just submit all your blog posts, then just keep moving on because Digg’s close-knit community is sure to find you out and your Digg life will be short lived. Because Digg is social, the most important part of it is engaging with others.
When first getting on Digg, before submitting your own content, spend at least a few weeks submitting other links, digging, commenting and building a network. As you’re doing this, make sure you’re writing quality posts and building a community on your blog as well. You ultimately want to do this because the power of Digg is found in not one user submitting links for a domain, but many users submitting many different links from a website.
Once you’ve built up a network of at least 50 active users, preferably 100, and the links you submit are being dugg and commented on, then you can consider submitting your own posts. However, don’t just start submitting every one of your posts or even every other post. Start by submitting 5% of your new posts. Make sure that you’re analyzing your traffic to see if you’re actually getting traffic fromDigg when you start doing this.
Of course if you’re not getting any traffic, then you need to spend time elsewhere. If you are getting traffic, make sure you’re writing high quality posts so that users come back and even start submitting your posts themselves. You can increase the chance of this occurring by putting aDigg button on each of your posts.
Finally, Digg can increase traffic to your blog indirectly, by adding SEO value. Unlike many social sites, Digg doesn’t put a nofollow tag on submitted links, which adds SEO value by building links, which in turn can mean a higher rank on Google.
So are you a Digger? Have you been dugg? Share your success stories about how Digg has helped YOU.

IMPORTANT: You will need to register at digg.com so you can start digging stuff.

For Blogger:
I have found a couple of ways to do this. The way I am using is to add the Digg This button to every post by modifying the template.

Blogger does not allow javascript in posts, and that's the only way Digg.com offers the button, so you'll have to add it to the template, which adds it to every post. If you don't want this, then this article will not help you. If you figure out a way to add the button to individual posts, let me know.

I guess I'm supposed to say here that you should save your template to your hard drive before modifying it. I haven't done that yet, but it's up to you.

So, Go to your dashboard, click the Template tab, then Edit HTML.

Click "Expand Widget Template"

You will need to find this piece of code:

It is about half way down. (tip: you can search the page in firefox and explorer on the mac by typing "apple" "f" and on Windows by typing "ctrl" "f", then typing "data:post.body" and it should find it.

Then copy the code below this sentence and replace the above piece of code completely (take a good look at this code, you can see it adds the replaced code back in)
